Austin police investigate fatal shooting on Blue Goose Road

On Friday, May 17, 2024, at approximately 2:18 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to multiple calls of a shooting at 8110 Blue Goose Rd. The victim vehicle was one of the callers and stated they had driven to the nearby Waffle House at 8800 E US 290 Hwy. Officers and Austin-Travis County EMS (A/TCEMS) arrived at the Waffle House and found that the back passenger of the vehicle had been shot. This victim was later identified as Eliud Cueva Jr., a Hispanic male, aged 32 years. He was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 5:36 p.m.

Homicide Detectives, Aggravated Assault Detectives, and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation showed that Mr. Cueva was in the back of a friend’s vehicle that pulled into 8110 Blue Goose Rd. The suspect fired into their vehicle and Mr. Cueva was struck by the gunfire. The victim vehicle then left the complex and drove to the Waffle House.

A reward up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.

This case is being investigated as Austin’s 22nd homicide of 2024.
