Austin Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on August 3, 2025, at 9811 North Interstate 35 service road northbound. Officers responded to a call at approximately 2:38 a.m. from a man who reported being shot near the La Michoacana Market. Upon arrival, police found the caller’s pickup truck with multiple bullet holes and discovered Miguel Mondragon, a Hispanic male born February 15, 1976, deceased in the grassy area between the highway and the front of the market. Mondragon had trauma consistent with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m.

According to Austin Police Department investigators, Mondragon and another victim left a nearby club with two friends before pulling into a parking lot to cut through to the road. At that point, two vehicles blocked them in. Several suspects approached their car armed with guns and demanded property. Police say Mondragon attempted to flee on foot but was shot and killed. The other two victims managed to drive away while suspects took Mondragon’s property after he had been shot before fleeing the scene.

The investigation identified five suspects: Alejandro Hurtado-Reyes (22), Yanaris Reyes (29), Antonio Gonzalez (17), Yurisander Gongora Rojas (19), and Hector Yohany Achang Batlle (19). Warrants for Capital Murder were issued for all five individuals.

On August 12, Alejandro Hurtado-Reyes and Yanaris Reyes were apprehended by the United States Marshals Service “Lone Star Fugitive Task Force” at an apartment complex at 7610 Cameron Road on Capital Murder warrants. Antonio Gonzalez was arrested on August 13 by the same task force at an apartment complex in Round Rock. On August 14, Yurisander Gongora Rojas was taken into custody in Manor, Texas, also by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Hector Yohany Achang Batlle was arrested on August 19 in Jarrell, Texas.

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program via https://austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
