Austin police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning at the intersection of East Braker Lane and Dessau Road. The incident took place on July 19, 2025, at approximately 2:07 a.m. when officers responded to a report of a shooting at 804 East Braker Lane.

Upon arrival, police found two individuals with gunshot wounds. The deceased victim was identified as Comarri Thompson, who was pronounced dead at the scene. According to authorities, Thompson was in a vehicle with his girlfriend when another car pulled up beside them and opened fire.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as white and fled the scene after the shooting. Thompson’s girlfriend sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists are currently processing evidence and interviewing witnesses. The Austin Police Department urges anyone with information about this case to contact them at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

This incident marks Austin’s 34th homicide of the year.
