Austin police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at the intersection of East 5th Street and Trinity Street on the morning of November 12, 2025. Officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 8:32 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Gared Goff, a Black male born June 29, 1973, lying on the ground. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene at 8:50 a.m.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the area and interviewed witnesses. According to police, “the investigation showed that Mr. Goff was struck by gunfire from a suspect who then fled the scene.”
Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. Police stated, “A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.”
This is Austin’s 48th homicide case in 2025.
