Austin police investigate fatal pedestrian collision on Dessau Road

On December 11, 2025, Austin Police Department officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the southbound lane of the 12300 block of Dessau Road at approximately 6:59 p.m. According to police, the driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The pedestrian, an unidentified male, was pronounced dead at the location.

The department stated that this marks Austin’s 87th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in a total of 91 fatalities for the year so far. For comparison, on the same date in 2024 there had been 85 fatal crashes and 90 deaths.

“These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change,” police said.
