Austin police investigate fatal hit-and-run on North Lamar Boulevard

Austin police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Monday morning in the 9600 block of North Lamar Boulevard. Officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the vehicle involved left the scene before officers arrived. The pedestrian, an unidentified male, was pronounced dead at the location.

“This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 74th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 77 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 64 fatal crashes resulted in 69 deaths. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change,” APD stated.
