Austin police investigate fatal hit-and-run on N Lamar Boulevard

Austin police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred early Monday morning. The collision, involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian, took place at approximately 12:50 a.m. in the 9600 block of N Lamar Boulevard. According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the vehicle involved did not remain at the scene.

The pedestrian, an unidentified male, was pronounced dead at the location of the accident. This marks Austin’s 74th fatal crash of 2025, with a total of 77 fatalities reported so far this year. In comparison, by this date in 2024, there had been 64 fatal crashes resulting in 69 deaths.

Authorities emphasize that these details stem from their initial assessment and may be subject to change as the investigation progresses. They urge anyone with information about the incident to contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111.
