Austin Police investigate fatal hit-and-run at East 11th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard

Austin Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred at the intersection of East 11th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The incident took place at approximately 11:34 p.m., when officers responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian riding a scooter.

The victim, identified as Khaled Saadeddine, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries and was pronounced deceased on October 19, 2025. The vehicle involved in the crash did not remain at the scene.

According to police, this marks Austin’s 78th fatal crash of the year, resulting in a total of 82 fatalities so far in 2025. At this point last year, there had been 71 fatal crashes leading to 76 deaths. Authorities noted that these figures are based on initial assessments and may change as the investigation continues.

Police encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111 or submit an anonymous tip through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for tips that lead to an arrest.
