On October 11, 2025, at 7:27 p.m., officers from the Austin Police Department responded to a collision involving a bicyclist and a motor vehicle at the intersection of Guadalupe Street and Denson Drive. The bicyclist, identified as Paul Wuersig, was transported to a local hospital after sustaining head trauma. The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment, and cooperated with investigators.
Paul Wuersig was later pronounced deceased on October 21, 2025, at 11:08 a.m.
According to police records, this crash is being investigated as Austin’s 79th fatal crash in 2025. So far this year there have been 83 fatalities from such incidents. At this point last year, there had been 69 fatal crashes resulting in 74 deaths.
Police noted that these statements are based on their initial assessment of the incident and that details may change as the investigation continues.
