Austin police investigate city’s 37th fatal crash of the year

On May 25, 2025, at approximately 10:28 p.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle in the 11000 block of Research Boulevard NB. Upon arrival, officers found the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The driver involved remained on-site, was not impaired, and is cooperating with authorities.

This incident marks Austin’s 37th fatal crash of the year, resulting in 41 fatalities. Comparatively, on the same date in 2024, there were 31 fatal crashes leading to 32 deaths. The investigation into this crash is ongoing and initial assessments may change as more information becomes available.
