Austin Police Department investigates fatal shooting at East Braker Lane

On July 19, 2025, at around 2:07 a.m., Austin Police Officers responded to an emergency call at the intersection of East Braker Lane and Dessau Road. The call reported a shooting incident where a woman was yelling for help, stating she had been shot and someone was dead.

Upon arrival, officers found both the woman and her boyfriend, Comarri Thompson, with gunshot wounds. Thompson succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists conducted investigations which revealed that the couple were in their vehicle when a white car approached and fired multiple shots into their vehicle before fleeing.

The injured woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The police are urging anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 512-974-TIPS or through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or 512-472-8477. There is a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

This incident marks Austin’s 34th homicide case in 2025.
