Austin police have arrested a suspect in connection with the homicide of Mary Gonzales, who was found dead on October 6, 2025, in a field on the 8100 block of Research Boulevard. The victim, identified as a Hispanic female born January 29, 1982, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after officers responded to a call at 7:42 a.m.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the area and began interviewing witnesses soon after their arrival. Early findings indicated that Gonzales had suffered apparent trauma and appeared to have been shot by an unknown individual who fled before authorities arrived.

On October 8, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the identity of the victim as Mary Gonzales. That same day, authorities issued a first-degree murder warrant for Enrique Gomez-Urbina, described as a Hispanic male aged 21. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Gomez-Urbina on Masterson Pass.

“This case is being investigated as Austin’s 45th homicide of 2025,” according to APD.

Police are urging anyone with information related to this incident to contact them at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting https://www.austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.
