Austin Police Department detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with two shootings that occurred on October 25, 2025. The incidents took place at different locations in Austin and left two victims with gunshot wounds.

The first shooting was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Guadalupe Street. Officers responded to the scene and found a victim who had been shot. According to police, the suspect fled south on Guadalupe Street before officers arrived.

Later that day, at approximately 12:06 p.m., officers responded to another shooting at the Austin Central Library located at 710 W Cesar Chavez Street. Upon arrival, they found one person with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries. Officers cleared the library building after determining that the suspect had already left the scene by boarding a CapMetro bus.

Police obtained a description of the suspect and shared it with law enforcement personnel across Austin. The individual believed responsible for both shootings was identified as Harold N. Keene, a 55-year-old Black male. Keene was later located inside a business at a shopping center on 4006 S Lamar Boulevard and taken into custody without incident.

Keene has been charged with one count of Aggravated Assault related to the library incident and faces two counts of Aggravated Assault along with one count of Deadly Conduct for the earlier shooting on Guadalupe Street. Both victims were hospitalized but are expected to survive.

In an official statement, authorities said: “We’d like to thank to our community for calling in tips and leads and our public safety partners for their assistance at the scene and our APD officers who apprehended the suspect.”

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact APD’s Aggravated Assault Unit or submit anonymous tips through Capital Area Crime Stoppers.
