Registration is now open for the Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s Co-ed Youth Sports program, offering fall soccer and winter basketball leagues for children ages 4 to 12. The program aims to provide a safe environment where young participants can learn skills, work as a team, and remain active.
The leagues are designed for beginner to intermediate players, giving young athletes an opportunity to build confidence and enjoy the games. The department is also seeking volunteer coaches to help lead teams and support a positive experience for everyone involved.
The participation fee is $40 for residents of Austin and $70 for non-residents. Financial aid options are available to ensure all families have access to the program.

Beginning this season, age divisions in youth sports will be determined by each player’s age as of January 1 of the current year rather than September 1. This adjustment brings Austin Parks and Recreation’s guidelines in line with University Interscholastic League (UIL) standards.

This means that players’ ages as of January 1 of the current year will now determine their age group placement. This change replaces the previous September 1 cutoff date.”
