Austin Parks and Recreation Department will hold a Community Seed Share event on Saturday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Turner Roberts Recreation Center located at 7201 Colony Loop Dr.

The event is part of the department’s Community Gardens program and is free to attend. It includes a lecture about crop varieties suited for the local climate, a seed swap where participants are encouraged to bring seeds to share, cooking demonstrations, and workshops on saving seeds. Educational sessions will be provided in both English and Spanish, while handouts on seed saving will be available in English, Spanish, and Mandarin.

The schedule for the day starts with a lecture at 10 a.m., followed by ongoing seed swapping until 2 p.m. Cooking demonstrations are scheduled for two sessions: from 12–12:45 p.m. and again from 1–1:45 p.m., each limited to 20 participants who register in advance. Seed saving workshops will also take place during those times, with registration capped at 30 participants per session.

Advance registration is required for both the workshops and cooking demonstrations.
