Austin Parks and Recreation has been recognized with an Award of Excellence for its Davis White Northeast Neighborhood Park Playscape Replacement Project. The award was presented by the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) at the 2025 Savvy Awards, which took place at the Planet Hollywood Hotel in Las Vegas on September 4, 2025. The Savvy Awards are given annually in conjunction with 3CMA’s Annual Conference to honor achievements in local government communications, marketing, and community engagement.

Judges for the awards highlighted the project’s approach to community involvement. “This project is an excellent example of going above and beyond to engage with and listen to your community,” they commented. “What could have been a routine playground replacement was turned into an opportunity for engagement, connection and education. The team provided multiple avenues for residents to feel heard and took their input seriously. In doing so, they maintained the character of a beloved park while highlighting important history and creating a playtime experience shaped by the community.”

The 3CMA awards program recognizes professionals from cities, counties, agencies, and districts who develop creative communications and marketing efforts. Entries are divided into groups based on population size to ensure fair competition among organizations with different resources.

In 2025, over 1,100 entries were submitted across 37 categories. Judges included professional communicators from across the United States who reviewed each submission and gave feedback to winners.
