The City of Austin has introduced its first citywide brand aimed at enhancing community engagement and service delivery. The new branding, which was developed with input from residents and employees, was officially launched on October 1st across various digital platforms, including the city’s website, department pages, social media, and newsletters.

As part of this initiative, all city departments will now begin their names with “Austin,” signifying a unified commitment to serving the community. For instance, the department previously known as Small and Minority Business Resources will now be called Austin Small and Minority Business Resources.

City Manager T.C. Broadnax said, “We want our community members to be able to recognize City of Austin employees and trust the services we provide.” He added that whether the brand appears on a website or a utility bill, it should clearly represent the city.

To manage costs effectively, branded materials will be introduced gradually. Digital updates are being implemented immediately, while physical items like uniforms and signage will be updated as they are replaced. However, public safety uniforms for Police, Fire, and EMS will remain unchanged to ensure they are easily recognizable.
