The Austin Independent School District (AISD) has provided an update on its enrollment process and volunteer opportunities as it prepares for the upcoming school year. The district, which manages 116 diverse school communities and serves more than 72,000 students, announced that the Transition Enrollment round is now closed and staff are processing survey responses.
Families who participated in the enrollment survey will receive notifications between February 9 and February 13. The district emphasized its commitment to local families, stating: “We want to reassure our families that we are holding seats for neighborhood students to ensure they have priority access to their local schools, even if they didn’t complete the survey this round.”
AISD is also seeking volunteers to assist with supporting families through the enrollment process at individual campuses.
Key upcoming deadlines include:
– Round 1 of enrollment for Admissions-Based & Magnet Programs and Elementary Programs Change Campuses closes on February 6.
– Round 2, covering General Enrollment & General Transfers, opens on February 16.
– Pre-K3 & Pre-K4 applications open on April 1.
The district operates a multicultural environment where over 100 languages are spoken by students and provides instruction in multiple languages besides English. AISD maintains a graduation rate of 93.3 percent and works with families and the community to equip students for college, careers, and life.
