The Austin Independent School District has released its latest podcast episode, providing updates on key district initiatives and community events.
The episode highlights the district’s Recommended School Consolidation and Boundary Change Plan. The plan proposes consolidating 13 schools and adjusting boundary lines, following a draft that was published earlier in October. Community members are invited to give feedback on the recommended plan at an event held at the Delco Activity Center, located at 4601 Pecan Brook Dr, Austin, TX 78724.
The podcast also addresses cybersecurity concerns as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Experts caution families about “spoofing,” which involves emails or texts that appear to come from legitimate sources such as Austin ISD staff but are actually spam. Families are reminded: “Austin ISD staff will never ask individuals to purchase gift cards or share password information.” If suspicious messages are received, the recommendation is to forward the email and then delete it.
Additionally, the episode promotes a free community event scheduled for Saturday, November 1st, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Austin High School Performing Arts Center and Grounds. The event features free concerts by orchestras from 12 area schools and youth programs, including performances by Austin High’s award-winning orchestras and several other local school groups. Admission is free and open to the public. Proceeds from games and a haunted house will support orchestra education at Austin High and local schools through scholarships, instrument maintenance, competition fees, travel expenses, and more.
Further details about these topics can be found on the district’s website.
