Austin ISD invites community to join Calendar Task Force for future school years

The Austin Independent School District announced on Apr. 2 that it is seeking volunteers to join its Calendar Task Force, which will help develop the school calendars for the 2027–28 and 2028–29 academic years. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply by Thursday, April 9.

The district said the task force aims to ensure that upcoming calendars reflect the needs of students, families, and staff members. Community participation is viewed as a key part of this process because of Austin ISD’s diverse student body and commitment to inclusivity.

Selected committee members will be notified by Wednesday, April 15 via email. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m., taking place at the Austin ISD Central Office located at 4000 S. I-H 35 Frontage Rd, Room 221.

Austin ISD supports a multicultural environment with over 100 languages spoken by students according to the official website. The district operates across 116 schools including elementary, middle, high schools as well as early college and magnet programs according to the official website. More than 72,000 students are educated in these schools with support from over 5,000 classroom teachers according to the official website.

Instruction is provided in more than 100 languages with programs available in eleven languages other than English according to the official website. The district maintains a graduation rate of over ninety-three percent and exceeds state averages on SAT and ACT scores according to the official website.
