Austin ISD is inviting families, staff, students, and community members to participate in workshops this July aimed at shaping the future of local schools. The focus of these sessions is on school consolidation, which extends beyond budgetary or structural considerations. “It’s about making sure every student in Austin ISD has access to a great education,” states the invitation.

The workshops will delve into school boundaries and transfer policies, academic programs across campuses, and the use of a data tool to assess potential school closures or boundary changes. Feedback from participants will be instrumental in guiding decision-making processes.

Sessions are scheduled for July 14 through July 16 and offer both virtual and in-person options. Free childcare and Spanish interpretation will be available at all in-person events.

Following these workshops, raw data and scores for each school will be presented at the August 14 Board Information Session, with a draft consolidation plan expected by October 9.

“Pick the session that works best for you and sign up,” encourages the district as they prepare to engage with the community on this significant issue.
