Lynn Boswell, the trustee for District 5, will continue as President of the Austin Independent School District (AISD) Board of Trustees following a vote at the board’s February 12 information meeting. The board also selected Andrew Gonzales, District 6 Trustee, as Vice President and Dr. Kevin Foster, District 3 Trustee, as Secretary. These officer roles take effect immediately.

The leadership transition comes at a time when AISD serves more than 72,000 students and employs over 5,000 classroom teachers across its varied school communities. The district supports a multicultural environment with instruction in more than 100 languages and programs in 11 languages other than English. According to the official website, AISD operates 116 schools—including elementary, middle, high schools and specialized academies—and maintains a graduation rate of 93.3 percent.

AISD is the eighth-largest school district in Texas and has focused on partnering with families and the community to equip students with skills for college, careers, and life (source).

The new officer positions are effective immediately.
