Superintendent Matias Segura has announced the appointment of principals at several Austin Independent School District (AISD) campuses affected by recent school consolidations and student reassignments. The decision aims to give families time to plan and make enrollment decisions for the upcoming academic year.
The appointments, made on December 9, include new leadership for both elementary and middle schools across the district. Leyla Olano, currently principal at Reilly Elementary School, will become principal of Wooten Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. Nick Martinez, who is presently principal at Wooten, will move to Wooldridge Elementary School as principal in the same timeframe. Travis Barrett, now leading Becker Elementary School, will take over as principal at Sánchez Elementary School.
Other appointments include Kara Schultz moving from Ridgetop Elementary to Pickle Elementary as principal; Paula Noe transitioning from Maplewood Elementary to Pecan Springs Elementary; and Elaine Navarro shifting from Sunset Valley Elementary to Odom Elementary for the 2026-27 school year.
Several interim principals have been confirmed in their roles permanently. Michelle Good at Williams Elementary, Jordan Curtin at Paredes Middle School, Briana Garcia at Guerrero-Thompson Elementary, Monica Mills at Rodriguez Elementary, Natascha Barreto-Romero at Galindo Elementary, Tiona Bell at Blackshear Elementary, Audrey Guerrero at Andrews Elementary, Tim Estes at Kealing Middle School, Cedric Maddox at Covington Middle School and Fine Arts Academy, and Dominic Infante at Rosedale School have all been named permanent principals effective immediately.
Additionally, Tamsyn Michaels will serve as interim principal of Zavala Elementary after Principal Samantha Hill retires in January.
The district is continuing its search for new principals for Reilly, Maplewood, and Summitt elementary schools.
