Austin Independent School District announced on March 23 that its annual Pride Week will take place from March 23 to 27, focusing on fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all students. The district said the week will include daily themes such as “All are welcome!” and “Differences are beYOUtiful!”, along with voluntary activities like “Wacky Socks Day” and “Mix It Up Lunch,” which will be held outside of instructional time.

The initiative is part of Austin ISD’s ongoing efforts to ensure every student feels valued and respected within its diverse school communities. With over 100 languages spoken by students, the district supports a multicultural environment, according to the official website.

Austin ISD operates 116 schools, including elementary, middle, high, early college, academy, magnet, alternative and community schools. The district educates more than 72,000 students and employs over 5,000 classroom teachers across these varied campuses. In addition to English instruction in more than 100 languages is provided and programs are offered in eleven other languages as reported by the official website.

The district maintains a graduation rate of 93.3 percent and exceeds state averages on SAT and ACT scores according to the official website. Austin ISD also focuses on partnering with families and the community to equip students with knowledge and skills for success in college, career and life.
