This week, the Austin Independent School District (AISD) released updates on key initiatives and upcoming events for students and families. The district announced that enrollment applications for the 2026-27 school year will open on Monday, February 16. To assist families with the process, an Enrollment Support Clinic will be available at the Central Office.
AISD also reported notable progress in student achievement, particularly among second graders from historically underserved groups. The district credits a “back-to-basics” approach for helping these students make double-digit gains in literacy and math.
In extracurricular news, AISD celebrated its teams’ victories at the Texas Cheerleader Open State Championship.
Students interested in filmmaking are invited to participate in the “Turn Around – Don’t Drown” video contest. The competition encourages middle and high school students to create videos promoting flood safety awareness, with prizes available for winners.
Families are reminded that Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17, are student holidays.
The Austin Independent School District serves more than 72,000 students across 116 schools, including elementary, middle, high schools as well as early college and magnet programs.
