Families in the Austin Independent School District (Austin ISD) have reported ongoing challenges with the enrollment process for the 2024–25 school year. The district issued an apology to those affected and said efforts are underway to resolve these issues as soon as possible.

According to Austin ISD, while most students have completed enrollment, some families continue to face difficulties. Problems include transfer students being mistakenly reassigned to their zoned schools instead of their approved transfer schools, returning students unable to access the Parent Portal despite being enrolled at the correct school, and new families experiencing login or duplicate account issues in Enroll Austin.

The district advised that if transfer assignments are not corrected before classes begin, parents should send their children to their approved transfer school on Tuesday, August 19. For returning students with portal access problems, families are encouraged to send their children to the enrolled school on the first day of classes if issues remain unresolved.

Austin ISD’s Enrollment Services Team is working with campus registrars to help new families complete enrollment. Families can confirm a student’s status by logging into both Parent Self Serve and Enroll Austin; if both show the same school, enrollment is considered complete. If there is a mismatch or uncertainty, families should contact their school office for assistance.

The district emphasized that all students should attend school on August 19 regardless of outstanding enrollment issues. “Every student will be welcomed at their home campus or approved transfer school, as long as they are up to date with their immunizations,” stated Austin ISD Enrollment Services Team.

Austin ISD also reminded families that state law requires all students be current on required vaccinations before starting classes. The district encourages parents and guardians to ensure immunizations are completed ahead of time so students can participate from day one. Free and low-cost vaccination options are available through local providers.

“We appreciate your patience and partnership as we prepare for a great first day,” said the Enrollment Services Team.
