Austin Independent School District (ISD) systems have been confirmed secure following an investigation related to a cybersecurity incident on May 8. The district’s Information Technology department acted swiftly in response to the incident, which was connected to its nursing partner, Ascension Seton.

In a bid to enhance security measures, the IT department temporarily disabled access to certain platforms for staff members closely associated with Ascension Seton. A forced password reset was also implemented as part of the immediate actions taken.

The rapid response from Austin ISD ensured that neither families nor staff were adversely affected by the incident. Officials from Ascension also confirmed that there was no impact on student care provided by Austin ISD nurses affiliated with Ascension Seton.

The district continues to prioritize the safeguarding of information and data belonging to its families and staff. It has expressed gratitude for their active role in maintaining this security, emphasizing that vigilance is crucial. If any suspicious activity is noticed, stakeholders are encouraged to make contact immediately.
