Austin Independent School District announces 2026-27 enrollment updates and key dates

The Austin Independent School District announced on March 23 several important updates and deadlines for families enrolling students for the 2026-27 school year.

The district said that Round 1 results will be released on March 13, with a deadline to accept offers by March 27. General K-12 enrollment is open for all zoned students, returning transfers, and new transfer applicants. Families applying as general transfer applicants should submit their applications by the Round 2 deadline of April 10. Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 enrollment opens April 1, while Kindergarten registration is already available. Early Learning Day will take place on April 2, when elementary campuses host on-site events.

The Austin Independent School District supports a multicultural environment with over 100 languages spoken by students, according to the official website. The district operates across 116 diverse school communities that include elementary, middle, high schools as well as early college programs, academies, magnet schools, alternative settings and community schools according to the official website.

The district educates more than 72,000 students and employs over 5,000 classroom teachers across its campuses according to the official website. It maintains a graduation rate of 93.3 percent and exceeds state averages on SAT and ACT scores according to the official website.

In addition to English instruction in more than one hundred languages is provided; programs are offered in eleven other languages as reported by the official website. The district focuses on partnering with families and the community to equip students with knowledge and skills for success in college, career and life according to the official website.

Families who have started enrollment are reminded not to forget completing annual forms so that campuses can finalize planning for next year.
