On May 7, Austin’s philanthropic community gathered at the JW Marriott for Austin Gives 2024. The event celebrated companies and individuals nominated for the Austin Gives Awards, recognizing their contributions to the community.

The day began with a live music reception sponsored by PNC Bank, featuring guitarist Austin Flematti. Jeremy Martin, CEO of the Austin Chamber, opened the event. He was followed by Denise Bradley, Vice President of St. David’s HealthCare, who introduced keynote speaker Jake Wood, founder of Groundswell and Project Rubicon.

Judy Maggio and Leslie Rhode from ATX Good News presented the first award to Patsy Woods Martin, founder of I Live Here, I Give Here. She received the Bobby Jenkins Philanthropic Leader of the Year Award. Patsy shared insights on starting philanthropic movements and discussed future prospects for philanthropy in Austin.

Bobby Jenkins, Vice Chair of Austin Gives, encouraged business owners to pledge 1% of profits towards philanthropy. He then introduced CBS Austin’s Walt Maciborski as the emcee for the awards portion.
