Austin FC has announced the signing of midfielder Ervin Torres on a short-term agreement from its MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, Austin FC II. Torres will be available for selection in Austin’s upcoming MLS match against FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium on Saturday, May 10. This marks Torres’ second short-term agreement this season.
Since 2023, Torres has made 33 appearances for ATXFC II in the MLS NEXT Pro league, starting in 29 matches and contributing five goals and one assist. The 17-year-old joined Austin FC Academy in fall 2020 with the U-14 team and was named an MLS NEXT All-Star in 2023.
Torres made his MLS debut on October 19, 2024, playing the final minutes of Austin FC’s victory over Colorado Rapids. At that time, he became the first player to represent Austin FC across all levels—first team, second team, and academy—and was the second-youngest player to appear in an MLS match for Austin FC at age 16 years and 340 days.
According to the “2025 MLS Roster Rules and Regulations,” clubs can sign players aged 25 or younger from their affiliates to a maximum of four short-term agreements each season. These agreements can last up to four days each (maximum of 16 days). Players may be included on up to four match rosters per season but can appear in no more than two league matches. However, they may participate in any number of non-league games during these agreements.
