Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) reported a record-breaking month in October 2025, with 2,086,037 passengers passing through the airport. This figure marks an 8.92% increase compared to October 2024 and surpasses the previous monthly record set in May 2024. The airport also saw its busiest single day ever when 45,048 departing passengers were screened by TSA on the Monday following the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas.
The increase in passenger traffic comes as AUS continues work on its largest expansion program to date, known as Journey With AUS. The project will add more than 20 gates with a new Concourse B and expand the Barbara Jordan Terminal to include a new Arrivals and Departures Hall featuring a centralized TSA checkpoint, improved baggage claim facilities, upgraded roadways, and closer rideshare pickup locations. Funding for this expansion is being finalized with airline partners and will come from airport revenue sources, revenue bonds, and Federal Aviation Administration grants. No City of Austin taxpayer funds are being used for these projects.

Among major cargo carriers:
– Air Transport International moved approximately nine and a half million pounds (up by about four percent)
– Sun Country Airlines nearly doubled its cargo volume
– Federal Express and United Parcel Services both reported declines
General aviation operations decreased by almost five percent for the month but overall combined operations rose by about four and a half percent.
Looking at year-to-date figures through October:
Total passenger traffic was nearly eighteen million—a decrease of just over one percent from January–October last year.
Southwest Airlines remained the top carrier but posted a slight decline; Delta Air Lines increased its passenger count by fifteen percent; American Airlines saw a decrease of nineteen percent.
Frontier Airlines recorded strong growth so far this year.
Overall air cargo dropped eight percent since January but international air cargo volumes grew slightly during that period.
General aviation operations for the first ten months were down less than one percent while total combined operations edged up just above one percent.
The continued growth in both passenger numbers and operational activity comes as Austin-Bergstrom International Airport works toward completing its ambitious expansion plans designed to accommodate future demand.
