Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) experienced a decline in passenger traffic for May 2025, with numbers dropping by 6.43% compared to the same month last year. The total number of passengers was recorded at 1,935,429.

For May 2025, enplanements reached 995,165, marking a decrease of 5.78%. Among the airlines operating at AUS, Southwest Airlines saw a reduction of 8.7% in passenger numbers, totaling 795,343. Delta Air Lines had an increase of 5.4%, reaching 350,768 passengers. American Airlines experienced a significant drop of 21.7%, with their total at 309,126 passengers.

United Airlines saw an increase of 4.7% in passenger numbers to reach 231,296. Alaska Airlines reported a decline of 12%, while Frontier Airlines showed substantial growth with an increase of 146.7%. British Airways and Lufthansa also reported increases in passenger numbers by 42.7% and 48.5%, respectively.

The air cargo sector faced challenges as well, with total cargo weighing in at 23,353,261 lbs., reflecting an overall decrease of 11.66%. However, international air cargo rose by 17.20%.

General aviation operations slightly increased by 0.58%, while combined operations including commercial and military flights fell by 0.80%.

From January to May this year, AUS handled a total of 8,314,687 passengers—a decrease of about 5.61% from the previous year’s figures for the same period.

In terms of air cargo from January to May this year weighed at a total of approximately112 million lbs., which is down by over ten percent compared to last year’s figures for the same timeframe.
