AUSTIN, TEXAS – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) reported a slight decrease in passenger traffic for July 2024, with 2,039,531 passengers flying during the month. This represents a decline of 0.07% compared to July 2023.
In terms of enplanements for July 2024, the total reached 1,014,354, reflecting an increase of 0.35%. Notably, Southwest Airlines saw a rise in passenger numbers by 12.2%, totaling 846,920 passengers. Conversely, American Airlines experienced a significant drop of 14.6%, with their passenger count at 396,646.
Other airlines also showed varied performance: Delta Air Lines recorded an increase of 13.2% with 305,566 passengers; United Airlines had a marginal decrease of 0.1%, totaling 224,521 passengers; and Alaska Airlines saw a substantial decline of 20%, with their numbers at 74,026 passengers.
July’s air cargo activity at AUS amounted to 25,914,463 lbs., marking an increase of 30.52% compared to the same period last year. International air cargo specifically rose by an impressive 48.69%, reaching a total of 2,294,041 lbs.
Regarding aircraft operations for July: General Aviation operations totaled to be down by approximately13.59%, while combined operations including commercial and military flights decreased by about5.04%.
For the first seven months of the year (January – July), AUS saw total passenger traffic reach up to12 ,861 ,212 , which is an increase of0 .56 % compared to the same period in2023 . The enplanements during this time totaled6 ,446 ,908 , up by0 .59 %.
Air cargo for January through July2024 stood at176 ,579 ,093 lbs ., showing growth of7 .95 % over last year’s figures . International air cargo within this timeframe increased significantly by32 .47 %, totaling16 ,222 ,662 lbs .
General Aviation operations from January to July were down by approximately12 .73 %, while combined operations fell by around4 .37 % .
