Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and its airline and cargo partners have completed new multi-year agreements that will guide the airport’s financial and operational direction for the next decade. The Airline Use and Lease Agreements, along with Signatory Cargo Agreements, set a framework to support both daily operations and an expansion program that now includes plans for 32 additional airline gates.

The agreements define how fees are assessed for airport facilities, such as runways, gates, ticket counters, baggage systems, and aircraft parking. This cost-recovery structure aims to ensure financial stability and long-term investment at AUS. Participating airlines and cargo companies—Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, FedEx, and UPS—are committed to continued operations at the airport.

Key projects covered by these agreements include a new 26-gate Concourse B designed for passenger growth; a modernized Arrivals and Departures Hall with improved curbside access, expanded baggage claim, and centralized TSA screening; a six-gate Concourse M for operational flexibility; redevelopment of Concourse A in the Barbara Jordan Terminal; and utility upgrades across the campus. The expansion program is expected to increase from $4 billion to over $5 billion due to rising passenger demand.

These initiatives aim to support Central Texas’ growth, improve regional connectivity, and deliver economic benefits for Austin’s business community. The Austin Chamber of Commerce supports efforts like these by fostering an environment where local businesses can thrive through partnerships focused on innovation and economic development. The organization also works to enhance the regional economy through collaboration (source) and provides advocacy programs for business growth.

“Together, these agreements position AUS to support Central Texas’ continued growth, strengthen regional connectivity, and deliver long-term economic benefits for the Austin business community.”
