On the other hand, Frontier Airlines more than doubled its passenger count with a rise of 147.4%. British Airways also posted a strong performance with a gain of nearly 26%.

The airport’s air cargo volume for September was up by just over three percent compared to last year at this time, totaling more than 24 million pounds moved through AUS during the month. While international air cargo declined by almost twelve percent to about two million pounds for September, domestic carriers like Air Transport International increased their freight volumes significantly—up nearly twenty-nine percent.

Federal Express carried less cargo compared to last year (down almost twenty-three percent), but Sun Country Airlines doubled its freight tonnage during the period.

Aircraft operations also grew modestly: general aviation flights rose by just over one percent while total combined operations—which include commercial and military movements—increased by nearly three percent.

Looking at data from January through September this year, Austin-Bergstrom served just under sixteen million passengers—a decrease of about two and a half percent from the same nine-month period in 2024. Southwest remained the largest carrier but posted a slight decline overall for these months; Delta and several international airlines recorded double-digit percentage increases.

Total air cargo handled from January through September dropped more than nine percent compared to last year’s figures despite some carriers such as Air Transport International and United Parcel Services increasing their volumes during this timeframe.

General aviation activity was flat so far this year while combined operations edged up less than one percent between January and September.
