Nearly 200 local construction professionals, subcontractors, and small business owners attended the “Runway to Opportunities: Journey With AUS Workshop” hosted by Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) on February 10, 2026. The event focused on connecting the local construction community with opportunities related to the airport’s ongoing expansion program.

The workshop was free for attendees and included presentations from several prime contractors currently involved in the Journey With AUS expansion. These contractors—Austin Commercial, Hensel Phelps, JE Dunn, and Sundt/Archer Western—shared information about upcoming projects, procurement processes, and strategies for working with the airport. Representatives from Austin Small and Minority Business Resources also provided guidance on certification with the City of Austin and vendor registration.

Journey With AUS is an estimated $5 billion project aimed at expanding and modernizing almost every part of the airport over several years. Planned developments include a new 26-gate Concourse B and a new Arrivals and Departures Hall that will feature a centralized TSA security checkpoint, updated baggage claim area, and improved rideshare access near terminal doors.

Ghizlane Badawi, Chief Executive Officer for AUS, stated: “The Journey With AUS expansion is essential to meeting the growing demand for nonstop flights from travelers and airlines in our region. This event demonstrated our strong commitment to collaboration and to building meaningful connections between our project partners and the local contractor community.”

Attendees were directed to resources such as Austin Aviation’s Journey With AUS Business Opportunities page, Austin Financial Services’ “Doing Business with the City” page, and ASMBR’s Certification page for further information on how to get involved in future projects.
