In 2025, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) reported significant engagement with the local community through a variety of events and initiatives. The airport connected with more than 14,000 people at over 100 community events, including Blues on the Green, ABC Kite Festival, and Mighty Texas Dog Walk. These interactions provided opportunities to discuss airport expansion plans and share information about services.

AnaLau Cavazos, Community Engagement Specialist, described the public’s response: “Every time we greet people and say we are the airport, they perk up, give a big smile and say ‘we love the airport!’ ‘Swag?’ YESSS!’”

The AUS for ATX initiative coordinated by the Stakeholder Relations team continued its support for local causes in 2025. Through this program, which began in 2024, AUS employees raised $33,976 for area organizations. The School Supply Drive at Circuit of the Americas supplied donations to 2,000 families and raised an additional $1,233 for needed items.

Another event in 2025 was Runway to Opportunities. This gathering allowed small businesses and subcontractors to network with prime construction firms involved in the airport’s expansion. Fifty small businesses registered as City vendors during the event.

The City of Austin manages operations such as these through a professional management structure that oversees community initiatives alongside legislative and administrative functions (https://www.austintexas.gov/department/austin-city-managers-office). The city employs more than 16,000 staff members to manage its services (https://www.austintexas.gov/department/austin-city-managers-office), operates on a budget of $5.9 billion (https://www.austintexas.gov/department/austin-city-managers-office), and emphasizes diversity and inclusion as core values (https://www.austintexas.gov/department/vision-and-values).

As AUS looks ahead to further community involvement in 2026, its recent efforts reflect broader city goals of fostering pride and sustainable development within Austin (https://www.austintexas.gov/department/vision-and-values).
