Arrest made in November homicide near E 5th St. and Trinity St

On December 1, 2025, Kimberly Sotelo was arrested in connection with the homicide of Gared Goff at the intersection of E 5th St. and Trinity St. in Austin. The arrest was made by the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force in Spring, Texas. According to authorities, Sotelo is being held at Montgomery County Jail on a murder charge and awaits extradition to Travis County.

The incident occurred on November 12, 2025, at approximately 8:32 a.m., when Austin Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the specified intersection. Emergency responders from Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services arrived and found Gared Goff lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:50 a.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the area and interviewed witnesses as part of their investigation. They determined that Goff had been shot by a suspect who then fled.

This incident marks Austin’s 48th homicide for the year 2025.
