APD seeks public help in identifying suspect in hit-and-run case

Detectives from the Austin Police Department (APD) are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident. The collision, which resulted in personal injury, took place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m. near East 53rd 1/2 Street and Airport Boulevard.

According to APD’s Leaving the Scene Unit, the victim was crossing the street on a bicycle with the “walk” sign illuminated when they were struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled without providing aid or contacting emergency services. The injured cyclist was taken to a local hospital and is reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30s, around 5’9″ tall and weighing approximately 165 pounds. The vehicle involved is believed to be a dark-colored Subaru Forrester SUV.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact APD’s Leaving the Scene unit at 512-974-5789. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for information leading to an arrest.
