APD seeks public help in fatal hit-and-run case involving cyclist

Austin Police Department detectives are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal collision. The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at approximately 11:44 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Congress Avenue.

The crash involved a motor vehicle and a pedal cyclist. Upon arrival, officers found that the vehicle had left the scene. The cyclist, identified as Bobby Wayne Carr, was transported to a local hospital with serious head injuries and was pronounced dead days later.

Authorities describe the suspect vehicle as a 2024 Black Ford Bronco with either two or four doors. It is missing the front right side fender and may have collision damage on the front right side. The vehicle features blacked-out wheels and has a white license plate located on the lower left rear, along with a mounted rear tire.

Anyone with information is urged to contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
